| Claudio is now teaching tango in his
preferred style: close embrace tango. At
the heart of his teachings are the
principles of frame, walking, and
musicality. "Mastering these basics,” he
notes, “is essential to anyone who is
thinking of dancing with local dancers in
Buenos Aires." Claudio has been dancing
and training for many years, which
include 10 months in Buenos Aires where
he developed his current teaching style.
Also, Claudio makes a yearly pilgramage
to Argentina to continue with his own
development. Claudio gently guides
beginners through the process of
learning the fundamentals, and prepares
them for the social dance floor.
Claudio Bigler was the DJ (up until the
end of 2003) for Vancouver's most
widely attended milonga – Claude
Esposito and Hazel Baxter's Tuesday
evening dances at the Polish Hall (Fraser
and West 23rd), although he has also
worked at other such events as those
organized by Gabriela Rojo (up to the
year of 2003). Claudio has composed
over 180 CDs. His musical flare and
passion is reflected in the music he
chooses, many of which originate in
Buenos Aires. |

| El Abrazo is located in Toronto, Ontario,
Canada. We love tango and are
dedicated to teaching the Close Embrace
style of tango, as is danced around the
world. Our experience comes from
dancing tango in many of the cities
around the world, including Buenos
Aires, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona,
Amsterdam, Warsaw, Montreal and New
York and from taking classes from many
well known Buenos Aires instructors. Our
methodology is fresh and vibrant and is
the result of extensive and on-going
research in the fundamentals of motion
that are at the core of all movements in
close embrace tango dancing. We teach
dance sequences (commonly referred to
as "steps") only to exemplify movement
concepts and not to memorize them.
Instead of teaching these usual steps so
commonly taught in traditional schools,
we teach our students how to move in
the context of tango musicality. This
ability allows them the exciting freedom
to create their own steps to express their
own musicality. Moreover, this approach
ensures greater and faster success to
our students than that offered by the
older teaching methods. |

| Founded in 1990 by lovers of the
Argentine tango, Club Milonga is
Toronto's only non-profit tango
organization. Our lessons and workshops
are popular with dancers of all levels.
The Club's aims are
- to promote Argentine tango in
Toronto,
- to provide lessons to dancers of all
levels in an informal and friendly
atmosphere,
- and to disseminate information about
Argentine tango in Toronto and out of
town.
As well as our regular weekly classes,
we schedule milongas (dances) and
workshops.
We are located at Danforth Baptist
Church, 60 Bowden Avenue, Toronto, on
the south-west corner of Danforth and
Bowden, between Broadview & Chester
TTC stations (Bloor-Danforth Line).
We meet every Tuesday night at 7:30
PM for lessons and dancing. Please see
Club Schedule for details.
Admission is $10 for the whole evening,
except for special events. |
